One moment your body is happily producing candida, as it should and then because of a number of circumstances or contributing factors, production gets out of control. This can occur either in or out of the body. Candida or yeast is a naturally occurring microorganism that is produced by the body. But when its production gets out of hand, the person ends up with what could be a chronic yeast infection

Resistance to treatments or the fact that it has become a recurrent affliction are two circumstances of chronic yeast infections. Chronic yeast infection may either be an indication of a serious illness or can contribute to much worse diseases.

Chronic yeast infections or the systemic candidal disease, the yeast has already extended to large areas of the body and this causes death in three out of four afflicted persons. Oral yeast infection and genital yeast infection can come to a point when it is already causing other illnesses and is no longer responding to normal anti-fungal medications.

Chronic yeast infection can also be caused by critical diseases such as diabetes, AIDS, cancer, or leukemia. These diseases can cause the bodys immune system to weaken and become more prone to yeast infection and its recurrence.

One of the outcomes of individuals with AIDS involves contracting chronic yeast infection in the esophagus. This then spreads to the entire gastro intestinal system. It can be very painful. People with yeast infections in their gastro intestinal system don’t absorb food and its nutrients which causes the body to weaken. Another entry point for chronic yeast infections could be cuts and wounds on the skin. The yeast enters the bloodstream and causes chronic yeast infection. It may also infect the brain which could affect mental functions.

Memory loss and fatigue can also be caused by chronic yeast infections. Other conditions could be extreme mood swings and fevers or chills.

Another form of chronic yeast infection is the chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis wherein rashes of yeast infection develop in the mouth, fingernails, scalp, and the extremities as well as on any part of the body. Rashes can look like scales, scabs, and lesions.

People with AIDS as well as those suffering from cancer can easily get chronic yeast infection. People with AIDS experience constant appearance of thrust in the end stages as their immune system go weaker and weaker. For cancer patients, even without the weakening from the spread of cancer cells, they can still get chronic yeast infection from the treatments involving radiation and chemotherapy.

When body parts and especially the mouth is prone to chronic yeast infection, this is known as diabetes mellitus. The high sugar content in a diabetic’s saliva promote out-of-control yeast production in the mouth.

Chronic yeast infections are very persistent and keep on coming back; they require medical attention and proper diagnosis. Superficial or not, yeast infection should be treated properly to avoid it from becoming a chronic condition.
