The Beatles Remastered Box Sets
The Beatles timeless LPs were originally remastered digitally for compact disc in the late 80s at that time digital mastering for CD was still a pretty new art and since the 80s much has been found out about how to remaster more effectively but even more important is all of the many technological advances during that time.
The many movements forward in technology and all of the know how learned of how to most effectively remaster original analog tapes digitally have been put to very good use with the remastered Beatles releases of 2009. On September 9 The Beatles released both The Beatles in Stereo and The Beatles Mono Box Set. And both box sets sound absolutely fantastic. If you’ve yet to hear ‘em, I recommend you get your hands on The Beatles remasters as soon as you can.
Which flavor of Beatles remasters should a Beatles fan get? Well for this guy the answer was “both of them” but if you can only choose one you’ll most likely go with the Beatles in Stereo because it contains all thirteen of their UK studio albums and most fans will want to listen to the stereo versions more than the mono.
The Beatles in Mono is aimed at hardcore Beatles fanatics who want to listen for every single difference between the stereo & mono mixes (and in some cases they are really quite different from each other) and for those who want to hear The Beatles how they originally heard them (this, of course, applies to older fans who were around for The Beatles in the flesh in the’60s.)
