The Beatles in Stereo: 2009 Remasters
The Beatles in Stereo CD Set came out on 9/9/9 it instantly became the ultimate standard for The Beatles legendary albums.
These remastered stereo versions sound far better than the old CDs from the late’80s. When a listener compares the remastered CDs to the older compact discs it’s like the older discs are under a pile of blanks while the new CDs sound very clear so that all of the vocals, guitar parts, bass guitar parts, and drums push through the mixes instead of being muffled.
The Beatles Remastered Stereo CD Box Set isn’t the only Beatles box set that came out in ’09 but it has been the biggest seller because it appeals to the biggest set of Beatles fans. The Remastered Beatles in Mono Box Set is excellent too but it appeals more to hardcore fans who need to listen to the mono mixes (because that’s how the albums were “meant to be heard”) than to the average music fan. While I will agree with the “purists” that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (particularly many of the pre Magical Mystery Tour recordings) all things considered I believe the stereo box set does sound most fab.
The great thing about The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set is that it allows you to get The Beatles complete ’62-’70 discography with just one purchase and when one considers the high quality of nearly all of their CDs, it makes sense to order them all at one time instead of ordering some and then getting more later.
As well as the wonderful albums included in this set there are also some cool visual bits, the- mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with this documentary DVD there are extended liner notes for each album (there is some good info in these notes, particularly for fans that are new to The Beatles) and some interesting unpublished photographs.
I am such a huge Beatles lover that I’ve got (or I plan on getting) The Beatles in Stereo Box, The Beatles in Mono Box Set, The Beatles Apple USB Flash Drive, and The Beatles Rock Band. But if I had to choose only one of these things, it would have to be the stereo box because it’s the best way to hear their music and after all, it’s their influential albums that made them the most legendary band of all time.
David Quincy Jackson thinks that you should Buy The Beatles in Stereo Box Set because it sounds amazing. He also strongly recommends picking up The Beatles Mono Box Set for a complete Beatles collection.
