Professional Singers Are Using Karaoke To Train
You might be surprised to know you can learn to sing by karaoke backing tracks but yes you can. It is a practice for learning to listen as well as to sing too.
Everyone has a voice but it does not mean that they can sing as some have squeaky voices and others have very low voices but singing is something you can learn to do. The muscles in your throat need some exercise just like any other part of your body needs to be exercised for it to operate properly. Consider using backing tracks as being a tool just as if you were going to build something. This will be like building your voice.
When you are learning the music scales you will be going from the very high notes to the lowest ones but with learning to sing a song with the karaoke backing tracks you will be actually learning a specific song. The muscles are learning in a much different way to respond to the exercises. When singing a song it is so much different to hit a high note than when doing the scales and trying to hit the same high note.
For instance with the scales you will be required to hit the very high notes and then the low ones too but with singing a song with the karaoke backing tracks the notes will be more predictable as the notes follow each other. In this way you will be using the muscles in your voice box differently than if you would be doing the scale training. This is a great way to be singing songs without all the scale practice.
With your favorite song when you are listening to the music part and not just the words take special notice whether it is in your range for you to try singing it. If you are just now starting to learn to sing then usually you will find it difficult to hit the high notes, as your voice has not had to practice these notes when you are just talking in your normal voice. The song needs to be repeated over and over again for you to get it right.
When you record yourself you will be able to hear the differences from the original sound track and where you need improvement as to whether you hit the note without going pitchy and did you like your own sound. One thing you could do is lower the octave of the song if it is too high for your voice or higher if that is what your voice dictates.
Finding the fact that you can actually sing and enjoy it while you are singing even if it took some time to get it right is the only thing which is important. Having fun while you are learning is the most important thing to remember and enjoy learning how to sing.
