Miley Cyrus – TV Star Turned Musician
Famous kids usually come from famous parents. Destiny Cyrus, or as most kids know her as Miley Cyrus, is the star of the Disney hit television show Hanna Montana.
Cyrus plays Miley Stewart, who has a secret double life as a high school teen and international superstar singer! The show is consistently one of the most popular on The Disney Channel because Disney plays on the “wish”… that is, teens watch because they wish they could be Hannah Montana!
Her famous father is country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus who had a number one hit in 1992 with “Achy Breaky Heart”. Miley has even accompanied her dad on a few of his concerts to show that she really has singing talent.
Miley’s first album was released in 2007 and it was coupled with her Hanna Montana character. There are two discs included but the second disc was all about Miley. She has writing credits on 8 of the 10 songs she sings.
Her second album titled “Breakout” was released in 2008 and does not include her persona of Hannah Montana. This album is still aimed at her teenage fans and also attracts the “tweens” who want to feel grown up by listening to her music. She has writing credits for 8 of the 12 songs performed.
After a couple of years starring in Hannah Montana, Miley wanted to focus on her singing talents. Together with Disney, she took her Hannah Montana character on the road, performing live concerts as Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus. These tours in front of millions of fans caused her first album to reach #2 on the Billboard charts and her second album to top the charts at #1!
The tour was called the “Best of Both Worlds” tour, after her hit television theme song. It started on October 18 2007 and ended March 9 2008 during which she played an exhausting 71 shows! It was worth it, though… the tour raked in over $36 million dollars!
Although she could stay an actress and grow up with the Disney channel watchers she does have musical talent and wants to focus on that aspect of her life. She has also contributed to a couple of soundtracks. Her music for the hit television show Hanna Montana and also for the movie “Bolt” with a duet that includes John Travolta. The song is titled, “I Thought I Lost You.”
Miley’s desire to become a musician might have been the influence of her dad, but her success is purely down to a great talent and a lot of hard work!
