Learn Easy Songs On Guitar – Simple Beginners Songs That Are Sure To Impress

If you are a beginner it’s great for your confidence to learn easy songs to play on the guitar. The great news is that many of the real classic songs are actually very simple to learn so even if you only know a few chords you can certainly play some fantastic songs.

One of my favorite easy songs, and one that I play often on guitar is Van Morisson – Brown Eyed Girl. There is a very short intro tune which you can actually just ignored because by playing the chords it will just fill in nicely. The other great thing about this easy song is that just about everyone knows it, so if you are playing it to a small audience, maybe friends at a get together, you quickly find that if you can strum the tune then people will just join in with the singing. This is great if you are a beginner and maybe unable to sing and play competently at the same time, but you will be the most popular person at the party. It just a great strumming song and the other good thing is that you don’t need an amazing voice or vocal range to sing it.

The chords are as follows. The 3 main chords are G, C, and D7, but what Van Morisson does is what is called a ‘turnaround’ so that the sequence actually use 4 chords but he repeats one of the chords like this, (G) “hey where did (C) we go, (G) the days when the (D7) rain came and so on.”

The song then introduces the Em chord in to the sequence for a short pre chorus part like this, ‘And (C)you (D7) my Brown Eyed (G) Girl, (Em) (C) You my (D7) (G). The song then hangs on the D7, Do you remember when, we used to sing. Now if you have an audience then here’s where you win them over. The chorus is simple, Sha lalalalala… and the chords are the same as the verse G, C, G, D7.

I think this is a perfect song for a beginner to guitar to learn because it has everything. It a simple arrangement, simple words, easy to play chords, very easy to sing and not only that it’s a real crowd pleaser so you will be the life and soul of any get together. Like many other songs based on the ‘young love’ theme it’s a classic. Other songs that use this topic are The River by Bruce Springsteen and Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams.
