There’s little doubt that Kenny Chesney has made his mark as a country music superstar. After his debut album, “In My Wildest Dreams”, was released by the independent Capricorn Records in 1994, Kenny has gone on to release thirteen more smash albums.

The success of Kenny’s music is remarkable. Of the first thirteen albums he released, eleven were certified gold or higher by the RIAA. His debut may not have sold record numbers on Capricorn Records, but the independent label’s release spurred two singles, “The Tin Man” and “Whatever It Takes” that garnered enough success to prove that Kenny had star potential. Capricorn Records decided to discontinue publishing country music later that year, but Kenny was destined for bigger things.

Kenny Chesney’s amazing career includes four consecutive AMC Entertainer of the year awards, sic CMA awards and more than thirty top ten country music hits.

Born in Knoxville, Tennesse in 1968, Kenny Chesney’s youth in the heart of country music was fueled by an early Christmas gift of a guitar, which he taught himself to play. After joining a bluegrass club while attending East Tennessee State University, he recorded a record on his own in 1989 which he used to sell at gigs to help pay for his dream. Kenny graduated from East Tennessee State with a degree in marketing and with a dream in his back pocket of a career singing country music.

Making his way to Nashville, which is just north of his hometown and east of his collegiate home, Kenny Chesney worked the music scene in the famed Music City, looking to capture a piece of his dream of a career in music.

During his college years at East Tennessee State, he played bluegrass and recorded a record to sell at his gigs in 1989.

After venturing to Nashville when he graduated from college, he worked to get in front of music producers and publishers. In 1992, he achieved his first real success with a deal with Opryland Music Group and BMI. Despite his youth, Kenny’s experience playing for live audiences no doubt showed his potential.

The 2009 tour includes a show on September 12 in Charleston, South Carolina, at the North Charleston Coliseum. This tour is one of the mega tours of the country music summer season with tour dates all across the United States and Canada.

This year’s Kenny Chesney tour has been dubbed the Sun City Carnival Tour, in support of his most recent album, Lucky Old Sun, which was released in the fall of 2008. The album had already had a number one single by the time it debuted, titled “Everybody Wants to go to Heaven”.

Despite the slow start to his career, he’s made up for it with incredible success during the first two decades of releasing hit country music. He is truly one of country’s modern music superstars, with two greatest hits albums already available.
