Film Adaptations From Fantastic Kids Books

Loads of adored kids films were to begin with favorite children’s books. Numerous family books that have been around for a very long time have been made into films at diverse times in the past. Most of the films can stand on their own and the majority of the books were previously classics. How narrowly do the films storylines follow the books?

A fairly recent film that was adapted from a series of books is “The Spiderwick Chronicles” from 2008. The movie was adapted from the series of books by the same name written by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. There has only been one show so far but there are actually 5 books in the series at this point. The books and the motion picture follows the adventure of a family of children who move into a new domicile where they find a unusual book that leads them into a land filled with goblins and trolls, elves and dwarves and other creatures.

The beloved family book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl was originally available in 1964. It has been adapted into 2 well-liked movies, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” in 1971, starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka and from 2005 “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” starring Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.

One of the most darling family books of all times is “Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White. From its first publication back in 1952 it has maintained its status all the way through. The book was first made into an cartoon movie in 1973. In December 2006, a live action movie edition was released. Both of the films very intimately followed the plot of the book.

Dr. Seuss is one of the most beloved kids authors of all times. A few of his books have been made into remarkable movies. “Horton Hears a Who” came out in 2008 with Jim Carrey as the voice of Horton. This is an animated feature film that follows the storyline of the book very nearly unerringly.

An alternative Seuss book, “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” had an cartoon adaptation that came out in 1966. It followed the book nearly exactly. However, the big budget movie of “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” from 2000 added many new scenes and events. The film “The Cat In The Hat” which came out in 2003 also made many changes from the book.

The 2nd maximum grossing motion picture series in times past was from the family series of books about “Harry Potter” by J.K. Rowling. Six of the seven books of the series have now been made into movies with a proposal for two films to be adapted from the 7th book for a total of eight movies when all’s said and done.

Children’s literature often makes superb movies that the entire family unit can enjoy. Reading the books together and watching the films together make for great family activity and great memories.
