The Littlest Horse Thieves: A well-made Disney period piece film made in England, in reference to 3 kids’ attempts to spare ponies who work the mines from neglect and mistreatment. Set at the turn of the century. Cast includes Alastair Sim, Peter Barkworth, Maurice Colbourne, Susan Tebbs, Andrew Harrison, and Chloe Franks. (104 minutes, 1977)

PCU: Political correctness is out of sorts at Port Chester University which leads to the unavoidable conflict between a cadre of excessively militant scholar groups and a college girl group who revel in their political incorrectness. Cast includes Jeremy Piven, Chris Youthful, David Spade, Megan Ward, Jon Favreau, Jessica Walter, Sarah Spark, Jake Busey, and George Clinton. (80 minutes, 1994)

A Guy Named Joe: Excellent cast flounders in this lazy fantasy film in reference to WW2 guide Tracy returning from the heavens to give youthful serviceman Johnson a hand in his romance with Tracy’s former lady friend Dunne. Cast includes Spencer Tracy, Irene Dunne, Van Johnson, Ward Bond, James Gleason, Lionel Barrymore, Barry Nelson, Esther Williams, and Don Defoe. (120 minutes, 1943)

The Mystery of Edwin Drood: A seemingly honorable English choirmaster (Pours) is essentially accountable for a terrible murder. This is an excellent Hollywood adaptation of Charles Dickens’ incomplete novel, which inspired a Broadway musical in the 1985. Cast includes Claude Pours, Douglass Montgomery, E. E. Clive, and Valerie Hobson. (87 minutes, 1935)

Barfly: A surprisingly entertaining portrayal of L.A. lowlife, and boozy, recklessly macho author Henry Chinaski, played with bravado by Rourke. Dunaway is magnificent as his alcoholic soul mate. Based on the autobiographical writings of cult top choice Charles Bukowski, who might be noticed on one of the bar stools. Cast includes Mickey Rourke, Faye Dunaway, Alice Krige, Jack Nance, J.C. Quinn, and Frank Stallone. (97 minutes, 1987)

Track of the Cat: Tennessee Williams meets American mid-evil in this unusually abrasive drama in regards to a home filled with bitterness, remorse, and envy, and how the search for a killer cougar changes the dynamics of the family. Horror Express: A crackerjack terror film ingeniously orchestrated and well performed by the genre’s megastars. This turn of the century chiller has a long iced up beast coming to life when being moved from Asia to the West. Lee and Cushing are adversary anthropologists aboard the train and Savalas is a power crazed Cossack officer. Cast includes Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Telly Savalas, Silvia Tortosa, and Jorge Rigaud. (88 minutes, 1972)
