Choosing Your DJ Equipment
Maybe you have always dreamed of becoming a DJ or maybe this is a decision that you have come to after realizing the money that can be made from it. Either way, when you start to look around for DJ equipment, you want to make sure that you are getting the most for your money without spending too much. You want to save money on the purchase of the equipment but you have to make sure that it is quality equipment so that you have a chance at getting more jobs and more money.
If you are just getting started and do not have all of the money in the world, you will probably want to take a look at some used DJ equipment. The new equipment is of course very nice but it will be extremely expensive and most likely out of your price range. Starting off with some gently used DJ equipment is nothing to be embarrassed about. Once you start making some good money with your new skill you will be able to upgrade into some newer and more high tech equipment.
But why not just go all out and buy the good stuff right away? If you have all of the money in the world that should not be a problem. But for everyone else, it could be a risky investment. What if you find that the DJ life is not the life for you? The less you invest up front, the safer the entire adventure is. And if it all seems to fall through you can always sell your DJ equipment to someone else looking to fulfill their dreams.
The first thing to do when you begin looking for your used DJ equipment is to check out the Internet. There are a lot of classified ads and auctions that are placed online. The people selling their DJ equipment are most likely people who tried the DJ life and found that it just was not what they were looking for. Maybe it was their lack of skill or maybe it was their lack of business sense that made them fail. Either way you are benefiting from their misfortune.
The best person to purchase used DJ equipment is going to be someone that lives close enough to you that you can meet in person. You could order equipment from the other side of the country but think of the shipping costs. Then again, if you find an amazing deal on some high quality DJ equipment, it may be worth the extra cost to have it shipped to you.
In the end, you will probably feel best by finding someone that is local and can meet you in person. By meeting the seller in person you should be able to test out the equipment. This will allow you the opportunity to test everything before you spend all of your hard earned cash so that you are not finding yourself scammed.
In the end, when purchasing DJ equipment you need to make sure that you are staying within your spending budget and that you are getting equipment that really works. Ask the seller for a warranty for at least a month. This allows you plenty of time to make sure that it works properly for you. Sellers that want to avoid warranties and that do not want you testing the equipment should be avoided.
