Against All Odds: Unemployed jock acknowledges a job from a sleazy ex-teammate to find his lady friend, who’s escaped to Mexico. Excellent stab at film noir sensation, however script is structure-bulky and unsatisfying. Thieves: Arrogant, uninteresting adaptation of Herb Gardner’s play in regards to insane couple trying to recollect their innocence in a corrupt N.Y.C. Corey as Thomas’ cabbie dad adds only life to so-hailed comedy. Bob Fosse has a concise role. Cast includes Marlo Thomas, Charles Grodin, Irwin Corey, Hector Elizondo, Mercedes McCambridge, John McMartin, Gary Merrill, and Ann Wedgeworth. (92 minutes, 1977)

Crimson Tide: The USS Alabama has been put to sea. A Russian nuclear submarine is now in the hands of a rebel faction of the old Soviet Union. An order to attack has come down from high command. With the threat of WWIII in the balance, the Captain, and the Lt. Commander disagree on the best course of action to take.

The Great Muppet Caper: The Muppets try to solve a London gem robbery in their second characteristic film. Here we have smart gags and notions plus humorous lyrical numbers with Miss Piggy make up for a strolling script with more than its share of dull shots. Cast includes The Muppet Entertainers Jim Henson, Blunt Oz, Dave Gomez, Jerry Nelson, and Jack Warden. (95 minutes, 1981)

The Fantasist: Eerie story of sensual repression amid the Irish: nation lass Harris moves to Dublin, where she’s in peril of dropping prey to Bottoms, who might be the infamous “phone hail slaughterer.’ , Well finished of its type, with Hardy successfully juxtaposing quiet, calm patterns with those of fear; nonetheless, some can find naughty. Cast includes Christopher Cazenove, TImothy Bottoms, Moira Harris, John Kavanagh, and Mick Lally. (98 minutes, 1986)

Colors: This movie deals with two L.A. cops one a veteran, and the other a gung ho rookie. They work the violent gang infested streets of East L.A. Can these two cops help reign in the terror that the gangs creating on the streets?

Insomnia: Will Dormer is an LA detective who finds himself in Alaska, trying to track down a murderer. He gets help from local cop, Hap, as they try and locate Walter Finch, the prime suspect in the case. Once they find him, it is a game of cat and mouse in the Alaskan summer, as Walter proves to be very elusive.

House of Wax: A group of buddies heading to a college football game take a shortcut, and find themselves stranded, get split apart, trip into a defected town, and enter a home of wax with a “closed” register the window. Plays like an average horror flip, however with modern-day, “fleshed-out” characters. An in-name-only redo of the 1953 film, albeit the wax sculptor is identified Vincent. Cast includes Jaume Serra, Elisha Cuthbert, Brian Holt, Paris Hilton, Jared Padalecki, Jon Abrahams, Robert Richard, and Damon Herriman. R (105 minutes, 2005)

Wild Wild West: This is a big screen adaptation to the old TV series of the same name. James West and his buddy Artemus Gordon are determined to stop the evil Dr. Arliss Loveless, who is planning to assassinate the president. Will Smith stars as James West.
