Believe in Me: Donovan moves to a tiny Oklahoma town in 1964 to take a teaching job, although when he arrives he learns he’s been assigned to coach the girls basketball team. What’s more, the girls have no self respect and little help from the school. Genuine heartland tale ascends above its recognizable underdog recipe. Donovan and Mathis as his supportive spouse are first rate. Cast includes Jeffrey Donovan, Samantha Mathis, Bruce Dem, Bob Gunton, Heather Matarazzo, Alicia Lagano, and Chris Ellis. Solar Crisis: Futuristic sci-fi thriller with Matheson leading a save the Earth mission to the sun to stop a solar flash from annihilating the world. Fine visual effects and suspenseful tale in space harmed by world pranks of poor boy Boyle who preposterously desires to undermine the mission. Raise the Red Lantern: Striking reenactment of the life of a young concubine in 1920′s China, as university educated gal (Gong Li) is sent to feudal nobleman’s palatial home to become his latest spouse. The relations between her and her predecessors, all of whom live on the premises. The interaction amid the ladies, the servants, and their master are brilliantly played out. The film provides an exceptional view of sex, dependability, and captivity during that time. Cast includes Gong Li, Ma Jingwu, He Caifei, Cao Cuifeng, Jin Shuyuan, Kong Lin, Ding Weimin, and Cui Zhihgang. (125 minutes, 1991)

Happy Gilmore: Hockey player Happy Gilmore finds his slap shot power translates into 400 yard plus drives in golf. Needing money to help his grandma save her house, he is going to try pro golf. His putting is as bad as his driving is good, so he has a lot to learn. Overcoming all odds, Happy wins the tour championship and now can save grandma’s house.

Quiz Show: This tells the true story of the 1958 game show called 21. Charles Van Doren had become a national folk hero. He had appeared on the cover of Time, and Life magazines. People would watch the show in amazement, as the Columbia University English instructor would answer the most amazing and obscure questions. Then they got caught. The whole thing was a scam. Investigator Richard Goodwin unearthed all the facts, and exposed the deception. America was left in shock.

Follow Me Boys: A very corny Disney film in regards to easy going man who settles in tiny town during the 1930s and starts Boy Scout troop, committing his life to this empowering pursuit. A little less jelly could have helped, although a little of it is finished with awesome conviction. Cast includes Fred MacMurray, Vera Miles, Lillian Gish, Charlie Ruggles, Elliott Reid, and Kurt Russell. (131 minutes, 1966)
